AND GET REWARDED
Share your kid’s outgrown clothes and make them available for other members to access. Get rewarded with carts that you can regularly fill with clothes from other members. The more clothes you share, the more carts you earn.
THROUGHOUT THE SEASON
You share clothes only once, but the single contribution enables you to fill your carts with clothes that other members have shared, throughout your kid’s childhood. You keep the clothes in periods of time.
AND FIND SOMETHING ELSE
When your child has outgrown the clothes, they become again available for other members to request. The circulation continues, and you can search for other clothes to fill your now empty carts with!
Discover wardrobes near you
Personalize your feed to get the updates from your favourite local wardrobes.
Found something you like? Select your items, click to order and pick them up. It’s that simple.
Buying and selling? That’s so yesterday.
At Urbankiddo, we believe in the power of circulation. So we enable you to access clothes that you keep as long as they fit your child and then find something else for the next size. And the clothes you just had? They’ll be making another kiddo happy as they circulate to the next member!
Baby steps to make fashion circular
The consumption and production of clothes is one of the main contributors to the environmental pollution, second only to the petroleum industry. In addition, the excessive use of water in the production, requiring around 2,700 liters to produce just one T-shirt, contributes to the global water stress.
Urbankiddo is dedicated to stop waste and prolong the lifecycle of garments, through the power of circularity. Although we have just started, we have quickly gained recognition for our efforts. In 2019, we were selected into the +impact Accelerator in Copenhagen as a startup working towards UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. In 2020, we made it to the finals in the Global Change Award, an innovation challenge by H&M Foundation.
But for a circular concept to succeed, there needs to be a crowd. Not just cheering us on, but participating. Join us on our journey today as we take baby steps to make fashion circular.
HOW IT WORKS
Browse through local wardrobes for clothes your kids will love. Say goodbye to buying as we introduce a sustainable concept called clothing circulation.
1. SHARE CLOTHES AND GET REWARDED
Upload pics of clothes that your kid doesn’t wear anymore. They are now available for other members to access. Your contribution grants you a cart based on a point system. The more clothes you share, the more carts you can earn.
2. EXPLORE LOCAL WARDROBES
Found a wardrobe with clothes that you like? Add the clothes to your cart! As soon as your cart is full with several clothing items from the same member, you can send a request to the member and agree on pick-up time.
3. PICK UP THE CLOTHES AND WEAR THROUGHOUT THE SEASON
The clothes you see in the app are based on location, so you’ll rarely have to walk outside of your neighbourhood to pick them up. Once obtained, they are yours love until you no longer need them.
4. NEW CLOTHES IN, WORN CLOTHES OUT
When your child has outgrown the clothes, they will get reuploaded to the app for other members to request. Your cart is now empty and you can start browsing for clothes from other members again. The circulation continues!
WHAT IS CLOTHING CIRCULATION?
In our approach to clothing circulation, the clothes you share to the app are made available for any member to request. After a member picks them up, they never go back to you, but instead they move, “circulate”, from one member to another in periods of time as each member’s kid outgrows them.
You share clothes only once, but are rewarded with regular access to clothes that have been shared by other members, that your kid can wear in periods of time. When your kid has outgrown the clothes, they become available again for other members to request. And you can request other clothes for your kid to wear for the next cycle.
IS CLOTHING CIRCULATION THE SAME AS SWAPPING, EXCHANGING OR RENTING CLOTHES?
It is not the same thing, although the confusion is quite understandable!
Swapping or exchanging clothes means that you recieve a clothing item, in exchange of sharing a clothing item. The item you can get usually corresponds to the percieved value of the item you shared.
When you rent clothes, you have access to them for a certain period before you return them to the same person or company that provided you the wear. You usally pay to rent clothes.
